FAQ’s

MPF – What does that mean? It’s an acronym meant to symbolize my ex, Melissa, otherwise referred to as “My Pre-Fiance”

What is a Lifegroup? – A Lifegroup is what Church of the Redeemer calls a small group gathering of 8-12 people on a regular basis for purposes of fellowship, sharing of the gospel, prayer, and accountability. In english, it means it’s a place where people of like minds can get together weekly to learn about why we should even care about God. How many years have people gone to church without knowing why they were going? For most of us, it’s a ritual to make us feel better about ourselves. What we look to accomplish is having a better understanding of who God is so that He will have more meaning in our lives. Otherwise, what’s the point? It will just be “religion”…and who needs that?

What is the United Nations Frederick? This is our Frederick Lifegroup. We came up with this name because we needed a team name for the Lifegroup Olympics this year as we went head-to-head with other lifegroups in Axis (ten in all). Since we have a diverse group (India, El Salvador, Japan, Italian, American, etc.), we decided to call ourselves the UNF (United Nations Frederick). We even had T-shirts made (design courtesy of Immersion Active’s Claire Urban) that illustrates the notion of disciples impacting the world. Since we are currently the only young adults lifegroup in Axis that is NOT in Montgomery County, we decided to use Acts 17:26-27 as our inspiring quote:

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

We even had to come up with a team cheer/chant. We didn’t win the olympics this year, but we fully intend to come back next year with a vengeance!

What is a Halfie? I’m a halfie. I’m half Japanese and half American. Of course, what does it mean to be American? So this may not be the most accurate example of a “halfie”, but to make things easy, I’m 1/2 asian & 1/2 white. Get it? Got it? Good.

The Benz – is a nickname for the woman I’m dating I was dating I’m going to marry. It’s no secret to the people that know me that her nickname is derived from her actual name (Mercedes), but like the car, she’s classy, sexy, and exotic, as well as a symbol of security and comfort. On a serious note, she’s amazing, and we’re we are back to really enjoying enjoyed enjoying the process of growing towards a stronger relationship with our God together.

The Commander – in a conversation I had with the one of the Sheriff’s department officers, I shared with them the harassment-like behavior of Officer Sasse (MD State Trooper). When I mentioned his name, the officer replied with, “Oh! He’s like a Commander or something”. I looked back at him with a blank stare, not sure what to make of it. I guess that’s a prestigious title. So, not only am I being harassed by a State Trooper who lives in my neighborhood, I’m being harassed by a “Commander”. Just my luck. I have a sneaking suspicion, this is the person who has been posting my mug shot in our local grocery store every now and then.
